Sources: Chelsea plot new move for Southampton star Mohammed Salisu after talks collapse
Chelsea are plotting a move for Southampton star Mohammed Salisu this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Salisu was close to joining the Blues in January but those talks collapsed and the London club are ready to revisit signing the 23-year-old in the summer.
The centre-back’s current contract at St Mary’s runs until 2024 after he joined from Real Valladolid in 2020 and it is believed £25million could be enough to secure the defender at the end of the season.
The Ghana international is attracting a lot of interest as teams look to strengthen their defence this summer.
Premier League clubs Man United, Leicester City and Aston Villa all said to be keen and looking at the defender.
The Blues have already added reinforcements to their central defence in the last two transfer windows.
Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly both joined last summer and Benoit Badiashile arrived form AS Monaco in January.
Graham Potter’s go-to at centre-back has been Thiago Silva who is a mainstay in the starting XI when fit, but he also has Trevoh Chalobah, who has been less fortunate with game time, to call upon when required.

Salisu has made 22 Premier League appearances for Southampton in a campaign that sees them bottom of the table with ten games left of the season.
The Saints still have to face Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool as they battle to escape the drop zone before the summer.
