Sources: Chelsea’s new Trevoh Chalobah transfer plan after Liam Rosenior green light

Liam Rosenior does not want Chelsea to sanction the summer sale of Trevoh Chalobah as Aston Villa turn their attention to a deal.

Chalobah has been a key man at the back for Chelsea this season, and Rosenior has trusted him to start all five of the Premier League games that he has overseen since his appointment last month.

Football Insider revealed on Friday that Aston Villa have an interest in Chalobah as they pave the way for a restructuring of their central defence this summer.

Reports have emerged in recent weeks over Chelsea potentially letting Chalobah go to gain pure profit from his sale, but the new boss wants to keep him around at Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with an exit last summer after he struggled to impress following a return from a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace in January.

He has battled back and proved many doubters wrong in the last few months, however, and Rosenior has faith that Chalobah can be an asset to his squad going forward, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast.

Trevoh Chalobah is not set to leave Chelsea this summer

Chalobah has featured 35 times for the Blues since the start of the season, and he popped up with an important goal against Arsenal in November in one of the finest moments of his career so far.

Chelsea were recently beaten to Jeremy Jacquet’s signature by Liverpool, and Chalobah is still set to remain a key player under Rosenior beyond this campaign.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I don’t see that Chelsea would entertain letting Trevor Chalobah go.

“Maybe a couple of windows ago, it looked like he might be on his way out, he was part of the ‘bomb squad’ for a bit when he was out of the picture at Chelsea

“Fair play to Chalobah, he has got his head down and fought his way back into contention, and for me right now, he’s probably been Chelsea’s best and most consistent defender.

“So I don’t think Chelsea would be open to letting Trevor Chalobah leave. He’s still only 26 as well, he’s under contract until 2028 with the option of a further year.

“I see Chelsea doing everything they can to keep hold of him. I think he’ll be one of the mainstays in the team under Liam Rosenior as well.

“Chelsea, maybe their stance has changed from what it was (last summer) when they were open to letting him leave following that successful loan spell at Crystal Palace.

“I think for me, he’s a key man in the Chelsea side going forward.”

Liam Delap could leave Chelsea as Everton line up summer move

While Chalobah is set to stay at Stamford Bridge, his teammate, Delap, could well make a move away amid interest in his services from Everton.

Delap has registered just three goals and four assists in 30 appearances for the Blues since arriving from Ipswich Town last summer.

Football Insider have now revealed that Everton have made Delap a top target ahead of this summer window, following previous links to his services.

Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, but the Toffees could well offer him a better guarantee of game time than any other club ahead of next season.
