Sources: Cheltenham make move to sign Swansea City ace Joseph

Cheltenham have made a last-gasp move for Swansea City striker Kyle Joseph, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Championship promotion hopefuls are willing to loan out the 19-year-old after fending off Celtic and Newcastle United to sign him from Wigan Athletic earlier in the summer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Cheltenham have registered their interest in a loan deal for Joseph.

He is expected to leave the Swans by tomorrow night’s deadline after struggling for game time in the opening weeks of the new campaign.

Swansea fended off big guns to land Joseph, even though he had contract offers from Celtic and Newcastle.

It remains to be seen if the two giants would be interested in a late loan deal for the forward.

Swansea sealed a deal for the Scotland Under-21 forward in June and tied him down to a four-year contract.

As reported by the BBC, the Welsh side paid Wigan a compensation fee of around £500,000 plus add-ons.

Joseph has been limited to just 103 minutes of League Cup action since moving to the Liberty Stadium.

He was utilised in an unfamiliar right-wing role last week as the Swans booked their place in the third round of the competition with victory over Plymouth.

Joseph scored five times in 18 League One appearances for the Latics last term, before suffering a back injury that sidelined him for four months.

The youngster is currently behind Liam Cullen, Jamal Lowe, and fellow new face Joel Piroe in the pecking order up front.

New Swans boss Russell Martin prefers a system with just one forward leading the line.

Cheltenham are in the market for a striker having lost Tahvon Campbell and Alex Addai this summer.

Joseph would be the Robins’ seventh summer addition.
