Sources: Coventry City, Watford and Bristol City make moves to sign Man City sensation Finley Burns

Watford, Bristol City and Coventry City are keen on signing Man City defender Finley Burns this month, sources have told Football Insider.

The 6ft 5in centre-back, 19, spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea City and the Premier League champions are prepared to loan him out again before the 31 January cut-off.

Championship trio Watford, Bristol City and Coventry have all registered their interest in Burns as they look to strengthen their defences in the window.

Burns, who has made one senior appearance for City’s first-team, has come through the ranks at the club after joining from Southend when aged 13.

He made just three appearances during his loan spell at Swansea last term – his only time away from the Etihad Campus.

Burns, who made his senior bow in the League Cup last season, is under contract at Man City until 2027 after signing an extension 12 months ago.

He has racked up extensive experience in Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League – but could now be ready to make the next steps in his development.

Pep Guardiola has shown a willingness to lean on youth during his time at Man City – with Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Rico Lewis, and Romeo Lavia among those to make their debuts under the Spaniard.

Watford are chasing promotion back to the Premier League following relegation last season, and sit fourth in the Championship under manager Slaven Bilic.

Coventry occupy a mid-table berth but are just four points adrift of a play-off place thanks to the tight nature of the second tier’s top half.

Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City could be dragged into a relegation battle if results don’t improve, with the Robins currently above the drop zone by three points.
