Sources: Crystal Palace keen to agree Daichi Kamada deal

Crystal Palace are keen to extend Daichi Kamada’s contract after a strong start to the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The 29-year-old’s current deal is scheduled to expire at the end of the season, and the Eagles are now open to agreeing new terms to prevent him leaving on a free transfer.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in March that Crystal Palace plan to keep their best players and are reluctant to see any key squad members leave.

Oliver Glasner sees Kamada as an important part of his starting XI, and he has featured in every game for which he has been available this season.

The Japan international was also a crucial part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield, and started in midfield on both occasions.

Kamada arrived at Selhurst Park on a free transfer in 2024 after leaving Lazio, and has since made 52 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions.

After a slow start to life in the Premier League, the Japan international has established himself as a key part of Glasner’s starting XI alongside Adam Wharton in midfield.

Palace have enjoyed a strong start to the season so far and are keen to build continuity by tying down their star players to new long-term deals.

This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are pushing to agree terms with Chris Richards.

Meanwhile, Palace have held talks with Jean-Philippe Mateta to extend his stay after turning down big-money offers during the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that the midfielder’s future could be tied to that of Glasner, who is also set to see his deal expire next summer as things stand.

Glasner and Kamada share a close relationship, having also worked together at Eintracht Frankfurt, and the boss was key to bringing him to South London.

Football Insider revealed last month that Crystal Palace are doing everything to keep Glasner at Selhurst Park, and plan to hold new talks over his contract.

Brown first told Football Insider in March that Palace want Glasner to sign a new contract and have been pushing to reach an agreement amid fears he could quit.

Reports claim Glasner would be keen to join Bayern Munich, while he continues to be linked with the Man United job amid pressure on Ruben Amorim.
