Sources: Dean Henderson accepts he has no future at Man United – wants permanent move
Man United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is set to leave the club permanently this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper is currently on loan at Premier League club Nottingham Forest after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
Henderson is aware that the Red Devils are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer and has therefore accepted that he has no future in Manchester.
Henderson came up through United’s youth academy and broke into the first team in 2015.
He has enjoyed occasional stints as the side’s starting goalkeeper, but has had to mostly accept a secondary role behind David de Gea.
An injury to De Gea in 2021 allowed Henderson to enjoy a run of games as United’s No.1, and he was also called up to the England Euro 2020 squad.
But struggles with Covid-19 and an unfortunate hip injury saw him drop out of the national squad and lose his spot back to De Gea at Old Trafford.
After leaving for Forest in the summer, Henderson slammed his ‘criminal’ treatment at Man United and revealed that he snubbed talks with Erik ten Hag after being frustrated at the club going back on promises.

“It was frustrating because I turned down so many good loans last summer and they wouldn’t let me go. So, it was frustrating. To sit there and waste 12 months, it’s criminal really at my age,” Henderson said.
Keen to get himself back in the mix of the England setup, Henderson prefers a permanent move to a team willing to make him the club’s No.1 goalkeeper this summer.
