Sources: Dembele’s agent reveals real reason for quitting Peterborough for Bournemouth
Sirki Dembele joined Bournemouth ahead of interest from other clubs at home and abroad with the opportunity to play under Scott Parker a big factor in his decision.
The 25-year-old made the move to Premier League promotion hopefuls Bournemouth from Peterborough United on transfer deadline day.
Dembele has made an immediate impact at Bournemouth, scoring a dramatic last-gasp winner on his full debut against Blackpool last week to boost the club’s promotion bid.
Speaking exclusively with Football Insider, Dembele’s agent, Danny Williams of Wasserman, has opened up on the player’s decision to join Bournemouth.
“There was interest from a number of clubs, some challenging for promotion, others that were making very good financial offers, and also clubs from abroad.
“The one major factor was Scott Parker, a top young manager with the credentials to go to the very top of the game. When a manager follows your career and shows long-standing interest from his previous club as well as his current one – it’s a simple decision.
“Having made the step up through the divisions, we all felt Scott was the right man to develop under even further.”
Bournemouth currently sit second in the Championship and are well-placed to secure a return to the top flight after a slew of January additions.
Parker’s side captured no fewer than eight new faces last month as the ex-Fulham boss looks to keep pace with his former side.

The former England international has already achieved promotion during his short managerial career, having guided the Cottagers to a play-off final victory over Brentford in 2020.
Dembele has netted six Championship goals this term after registering 23 goal contributions for Peterborough last season.
