Sources: Derby County agree deal to sign Cardiff City star Ebou Adams

Derby County have agreed a deal to sign Cardiff City midfielder Ebou Adams on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The Rams have beaten off interest from rival League One clubs to land the Gambia international for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

Derby boss Paul Warne had been keen to bolster his midfield options before the close of the transfer window on Thursday (1 February) as he targets promotion to the Championship.

Warne is now seemingly set to get his man in Adams, who joined Cardiff in 2022.

The 28-year-old, who can play in defence as well as midfield, has made 13 appearances in all competitions so far this season – but only five of those outings have come as part of the starting lineup.

He failed to make a single appearance for the Bluebirds in the 2022-23 campaign after suffering a pectoral muscle tear in pre-season.

Adams’ last regular first-team football came at Forest Green Rovers in the 2021-22 season.

He made 41 appearances across all competitions for the Gloucestershire side, scoring three and assisting one to help them achieve promotion to League One.

The London-born ace, who has made 12 appearances for The Gambia, is out of contract at Cardiff in June 2025.

Derby

Derby sit fourth in League One but could move to within just one point of leaders Portsmouth if they win their game in hand.

The Rams are in action against Charlton Athletic on Saturday (3 February) – a potential debut for Adams.
