Sources: Derby County and Portsmouth ready offers for ex-Liverpool star Callum Lang
League One promotion hopefuls Derby and Portsmouth are battling it out to sign Wigan Athletic attacker Callum Lang, sources have told Football Insider.
The north-west outfit are believed to be open to selling Lang during this month’s transfer window and both Pompey and the Rams are now submitted offers for the former Liverpool youngster.
The 25-year-old, who can play as a central striker or on the right wing, has scored two goals and provided two assists in 23 League One games so far this season.

Derby and Portsmouth are keen to bolster their attacking options in this month’s transfer window and see Lang as a key addition for their plans.
The right-footer is under contract at the DW Stadium until June 2025.
Lang has started in 19 of a possible 25 League One games so far in the 2023-24 campaign and has even captained the Latics on several occasions.
But Shaun Maloney’s side are in the midst of financial challenges and are open to letting the Liverpool-born ace depart.
The 25-year-old has been with the Greater Manchester outfit since his teenage years after departing Liverpool as a youth.
He has racked up 143 appearances across all competitions for Wigan, notching 31 goals and 18 assists.
The Latics sit 18th in League One after being deducted four points for the 2023-24 campaign.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth sit top of the third tier on 53 points – four points ahead of fourth-place Derby, who have a game in hand on Pompey.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (9 January) that the two sides are also battling to sign Cliftonville hot-shot Ronan Hale – who hit 30 goals across all competitions last season.
