Sources: Erik Ten Hag could still agree manager deal after Wolves twist
Erik Ten Hag has held extensive talks with Ajax over their vacant managerial role after Wolves negotiations, sources have told Football Insider.
It comes after Ten Hag had been linked with Wolves as a potential replacement for Vitor Pereira, who was sacked last week.
However, Wolves are now set to appoint Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards after cooling their interest in the former Man United manager.
Sources say that Ten Hag is now in pole position to replace Jonny Heitinga at the Dutch side, after the former Liverpool assistant was dismissed on Thursday (6 November).

Erik Ten Hag to Ajax still alive
There have been reports that Ten Hag’s move to Ajax has hit a stumbling block, but talks are very much alive, and a deal could still happen.
Key to a potential deal is the strong link between the Dutch giants and SEG, the agency that represents Ten Hag.
The 55-year-old spent four and a half years in charge of Ajax between 2018 and 2022, winning three Eredivisie titles for the Amsterdam-based side.
Ten Hag was also in charge for Ajax’s infamous 2018-19 Champions League campaign, in which they beat Real Madrid in the knockout stages before losing out to Tottenham in the semi-final.
Ajax are in awful form
Ajax are currently fourth in the Eredivisie and have won just one of their last eight games across all competitions.
Ten Hag was most recently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, where he lasted just two league games before being dismissed.

Now the 55-year-old is set to complete his return to management, as well as his return to Ajax.
The former Manchester United boss will be expected to turn things around and boost the Dutch side back towards the top of the table.
