Sources: Everton confident of selling star for more than Richarlison fee

Everton are confident of making a £30million profit if they are to sell Amadou Onana this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old, who was signed for £33million last summer (2022), has made a big impact in his first season in the Premier League.

If they escape relegation to the Championship, Everton now expect to receive a fee for Onana which eclipses the £60million Tottenham spent to sign Richarlison last summer.

The Belgium international is the subject of strong interest from Arsenal and Chelsea following his impressive first season at Goodison Park.

Football Insider sources revealed on 1 April that Everton have accepted that Onana will leave the club this summer if relegated.

It is believed that Everton will sell at least one star for big money this summer due to their financial troubles.

The Toffees are being investigated by the Premier League after they were charged with breaching spending rules – and could face a points deduction if found guilty.

Everton also posted a loss of almost £45million when they published their accounts for the 2021-22 campaign last month (31 March).

Onana has been a mainstay in the lineup under both Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche in the Premier League this season.

He has turned out 30 times across all competitions for Everton this term, registering one goal and one assist.

The six-cap defensive midfielder also made his first Belgium appearances this season and turned out for his country at the World Cup in Qatar.

Everton sit 17th in the Premier League and are outside the drop zone by virtue of their goal difference.
