Sources: Everton reignite interest in Southampton star Che Adams – ‘will sign him in a heartbeat’

Everton are ready to return for Southampton ace Che Adams in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Leeds United are also interested in the 26-year-old after trying to sign him several times in previous windows.

Sources have told Football Insider that Everton and Leeds are among a number of Premier League sides ready to sign Adams “in a heartbeat” if Southampton are relegated this season.

The striker has less than 18 months to run on his deal at St Mary’s Stadium.

He earns a reported wage of £30,000-a-week on the south coast after joining the club for a reported fee of £15million in 2019.

Adams has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 29 games as a regular starter for Southampton this season.

Nevertheless, Southampton sit inside the Premier League relegation zone by one point with 13 games remaining in the 2022-23 campaign.

The threat of the drop is also looming large over Everton and Leeds – and their interest in Adams will remain on the back burner until safety is secured.

Both sides are currently separated by goal difference – with the Toffees currently occupying 18th place in the table.

Everton are the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League and are once again desperate for striking reinforcements this summer.

The signing of Neal Maupay has not been fruitful for the Toffees, with the former Brighton ace scoring just once in 21 outings so far this term.

Leeds have also struggled for form without top scorer Rodrigo Moreno – who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since early February.
