Sources: Everton make move to sign Gyokeres as new price revealed

Everton are among the clubs interested in signing Coventry City hitman Viktor Gyokeres, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Toffees boss Sean Dyche will have to “wheel and deal” to make any deal possible.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (1 July) that Everton need to raise transfer funds to allow Dyche to make moves this summer – leaving them vulnerable to bids for the likes of Jordan Pickford, Amadou Onana and Demarai Gray.

It is believed Coventry will demand a fee of £20million for Gyokeres – even though he has just 12 months remaining on his contract at the club.

Football Insider revealed last month (9 June) that Wolves, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Burnley are eyeing moves for the 25-year-old.

Gyokeres fired Coventry into promotion contention in the 2022-23 campaign, but the Sky Blues fell short with defeat in the playoff final against Luton.

He scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions as the Midlands club finished fifth in the Championship.

The former Brighton man has now managed 41 goals and 17 assists in 121 games in the second tier and is keen to make an impression in the Premier League.

Gyokeres is also a fully-fledged Sweden international having turned out 13 times for the senior side – scoring three goals.

Everton

Football Insider revealed on Friday (30 June) that Everton are keen to add two strikers this summer after their goalscoring woes in the 2022-23 campaign.

Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms are expected to be sold by the Merseysiders after managing just two combined Premier League goals last term.

In other news, Everton could now accept offers for Pickford and two other stars.
