Everton have offered a £120,000-a-week contract to James Tarkowski, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
This site revealed on 30 April that Goodison director of football Kevin Thelwell is a big admirer of the Burnley defender and watched him in his team’s 1-0 win over Wolves last month.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club are eager to win the race for Tarkowski and have now made a concrete move by offering him a lucrative contract.
Newcastle United have also made Tarkowski a top target, while West Ham are monitoring his situation closely.
The England international is out of contract at Turf Moor next month and will leave following the club’s Premier League relegation.
Burnley elected not to cash in on Tarkowski and blocked all approaches in January in a bid to beat the drop.
The two-time England international reputation has survived the Clarets’ relegation unscathed.
Only four teams in the Premier League conceded more goals this term than Everton, who ultimately finished four points ahead of Burnley in 16th place.
Key defensive man Yerry Mina spent most of the campaign sidelined with injury.
Burnley paid a reported £3.5million to sign Tarkowski from Brentford in 2016 and he has gone on to turn out 219 times in all competitions.
Those appearances have yielded seven goals and five assists.
