Sources: Ex-Leeds United man Carlos Corberan on four-man Hull City shortlist

Carlos Carvalhal, Carlos Corberan, Scott Parker and Sergen Yalcin are on the four-man shortlist for the vacant manager’s job at Hull City, sources have told Football Insider.

Hull are searching for a new manager following Shota Arveladze’s sacking on the day of their Championship clash with Luton Town last Friday (30 September).

The second-tier club are understood to have narrowed down their target list to Carvalhal, Corberan, Parker and Yalcin.

Former Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday boss Carvalhal, 56, took over at Al Wahda FC of the UAE Pro League in the summer.

Corberan has been out of work since last month (18 September) when he was sacked by Olympiacos after six weeks in charge.

The 39-year-old, who was part of Marcelo Bielsa’s coaching staff at Leeds United, led Huddersfield Town to the Championship play-off final last season before quitting to take over at Olympiacos.

Parker was also sacked earlier this season (30 August) after complaining about Bournemouth’s transfer strategy.

He guided the Cherries to the Premier League via the automatic places in the Championship last term.

Yalcin is the only manager on the shortlist without experience of working in England and was most recently in charge of Besiktas before leaving in December 2021.

The 49-year-old has spent his entire playing and managerial career in Turkey and won the Super Lig with Besiktas in the 2020-21 season.

Hull City have a strong Turkish connection through owner Acun Ilaci and signed five players from Super Lig clubs in the summer.

Despite losing just one of their opening six Championship games, the Tigers are now down in 20th, just one point above the relegation places.

They go into Wednesday’s game (5 October) with Wigan Athletic having conceded 20 goals in their last seven games with the worst goal difference in the Championship.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Leeds United are taking a “near-£20million” gamble amid a courtroom twist.
