Sources: Ex-Liverpool star Divock Origi targeted by Saudi Arabia clubs

Leeds United target and former Liverpool star Divock Origi could make the latest big-money move to Saudi Arabia, with interest led by Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, sources have told Football Insider.

AC Milan are willing to offload Origi this summer with the Belgium international having been left out of the squad for the their pre-season tour of America.

The likes of Leeds, Crystal Palace and West Ham have registered an interest in the 28-year-old, but they face serious competition from teams in Saudi Arabia.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to offer the ex-Reds cult hero a “huge money” deal, sources say, to join him at Al-Ettifaq.

Should a deal be agreed, the Belgian would link up with former Anfield team-mate Jordan Henderson.

Origi still has three years remaining on his contract in Milan after signing from Liverpool last summer.

On Saturday (15 July), Football Insider revealed that the Merseysiders are pressing ahead with finalising the sale of Henderson.

The 33-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with the Saudi club that includes the option of a third year.

The deal, worth £82million in total, will see the Liverpool skipper’s salary rise to £700,000-per-week.

Al-Ettifaq are confident the move will be completed soon and it is expected that a fee of around £10m will be agreed.

The midfielder still has two years left on his Anfield contract after joining from boyhood club Sunderland back in 2011 and took on the captaincy in 2015 following Gerrard’s departure.

Henderson made 492 appearances for the club during his 12-year spell and netted 33 goals in those outings.
