Sources: Ex-Liverpool star Elijah Dixon-Bonner in advanced talks to join QPR

Elijah Dixon-Bonner is in advanced talks to join Queens Park Rangers months after leaving Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

The attacking midfielder, 21, is a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Anfield in June.

Dixon-Bonner has linked up with QPR for training so that manager Michael Beale could take a look at him at close quarters.

Beale knows the player’s capabilities well after his extensive spell coaching at Liverpool’s academy

The former Arsenal youngster joined the Merseyside giants in 2015 but struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He made just three first-team appearances during his time at Anfield – two in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.

The former England Under-17 made his debut against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup in January 2020 before playing two further games last season.

Despite his lack of game time for the first team, Dixon-Bonner was a regular in the youth team.

He scored six times and provided one assist in 55 games across all competitions for the Under-23s.

QPR have enjoyed a good start to the season under Beale and currently sit sixth in the Championship.

They have only lost one of their last five games and are currently five points off the automatic promotions places.

Beale bolstered his midfield ranks in the summer with the loan signing of Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa.

QPR are next in action on Saturday (1 October) when they travel to Bristol City.
