Sources: Falkirk plotting to sign Rangers winger Josh McPake as off-field issues revealed

Falkirk are plotting a move to sign Rangers winger Josh McPake for next season, sources have told Football Insider.

The loaned-out star, 21, been an unused substitute for Queen’s Park in the last three games and hasn’t started since the February game against Morton.

Performances and off field issues in the second half of the season have curtailed what was a positive start and McPake may need to follow in footsteps of Kai Kennedy by taking a drop to the Championship.

Falkirk are keen to sign McPake and help him kick start his faltering career.

The attacker is under contract at Ibrox until 2024 and Rangers are happy to move him on.

The 21-year-old joined the Rangers academy in his youth and spent ten years working his way through the ranks and after winning the Academy Player of the Year in 2018/19, was handed a professional contract by the club.

The midfielder has made just one appearance for the Gers’ first team and has spent most of his career out on loan.

Earlier this month (4 March), this site revealed that the Light Blues attempted to offload McPake in the January window but there was no concrete interest in him.

It is believed that they youngster has previously been fined by his parent club as a result of his discipline issues.

McPake was enjoying a spell in the first team at Championship leaders Queen’s Park and had been in the starting XI for 15 of the 24 games he featured in.
