Sources: FC Cincinnati agree to sign Scott after he quit Newcastle

FC Cincinnati have agreed to sign midfielder Kyle Scott on a free transfer following his Newcastle United exit, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site revealed in April the MLS side were in talks to land the 23-year-old.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Scott has agreed the terms of a two-year contract with FC Cincinnati.

He is expected to put pen to paper imminently on the deal.

Scott has been without a club following the expiry of his Magpies contract at the end of June this year.

The midfielder started his career with Chelsea after coming through the youth ranks in West London.

Scott was integral to the Chelsea youth sides who won three straight FA Youth Cups from 2013-14 to 2015-16, and consecutive UEFA Youth League trophies in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

The Bath-born midfielder made his Blues debut in the FA Cup fifth round in 2018.

He then got his first real taste of first-team football with a season-long loan to Dutch side Telstar in the following campaign.

Scott joined Newcastle in 2019 but failed to make a first-team appearance during two seasons on Tyneside.

The 23-year-old has appeared for the United States at U18 and U20 level, with his last appearance coming in 2015.

FC Cincinnati are looking to bolster their ranks by signing the midfielder.

The 2019 expansion franchise are struggling to make an impression this season.

Newcastle

The Ohio club are languishing in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference, with only Toronto having a worse season in 2021.

The Orange and Blue are managed by former Netherlands and Manchester United legend Jaap Stam.

In other news, Matty Longstaff is set for a medical before his Newcastle exit.
