Sources: Grimsby Town in advanced talks to sign Luton Town starlet Aribim Pepple

Luton Town new boy Aribim Pepple is close to joining Grimsby Town on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old only joined Luton earlier this week from Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC.

Pepple is likely to be down the pecking order at Luton this season and the club feel he would be best served to go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience.

A number of League One and League Two clubs have shown an interest in Pepple, but Grimsby are in advanced talks to take him to Blundell Park.

Pepple has had several trials at English clubs after his first departure from Cavalry FC.

His first trial, in October 2020, was at Sheffield United and that was followed by a spell with Leicester City.

However, neither club elected to sign him and he moved from Cavalry to join Getafe’s youth team.

Pepple then returned to Calvary FC for their 2022 season and found the best form of his career.

Across June and July, he broke the Canadian Premier League record for the longest goalscoring streak, bagging six goals in five matches.

In 2019, Pepple was called up to represent Canada at Under 17 level after electing to represent the county.

He was also eligible to play for Nigeria through his father.

Luton drew 0-0 with Birmingham on the opening weekend of the new Championship season.

Grimsby, meanwhile, lost 2-0 to Leyton Orient thanks to goals from George Moncur and Tomas James.

In other news, Sources have told Football Insider that Millwall have agrees to sign Connal Trueman after Birmingham exit.
