Sources: Hartlepool agree to sign Rotherham star Hull

Hartlepool United have agreed a deal to sign Rotherham United defender Jake Hull, Football Insider understands.

The centre-back, 20, has come through the ranks at the south Yorkshire club and they have given the green light to a loan move to accelerate his development.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hartlepool have beaten off interest from several other League Two clubs to land Hull on loan until the end of the season.

The deal has been agreed in principle and is expected to be completed soon.

The defender has been loaned out to non-league clubs Matlock and Guiseley but is now set to make his first steps in the quest for first-team action in the Football League.

Hull made 19 appearances for Guiseley in the first half of this season before returning to the New York Stadium earlier this month.

The Sheffield-born defender also featured in the EFL Trophy for Rotherham this term, scoring twice and keeping two clean sheets as the Millers advanced to the second round.

Hull penned professional terms with the Yorkshire club in August 2020 after impressing during his youth scholarship.

However, he is yet to appear in league competition for the League One side.

Hartlepool sit 16th in League Two and are looking to bolster their defence in an attempt to avoid dropping out of the Football League.

Graeme Lee’s side have won just one of their last five league games.

The County Durham club face Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

In other news, Hartlepool United have agreed to sign a non-league goal machine.
