Sources: Huddersfield Town agree to sign Yuta Nakayama
Huddersfield Town have agreed a deal to sign Japanese defender Yuta Nakayama on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.
Centre-back Nakayama is a free agent after leaving Dutch side PEC Zwolle earlier this summer and Huddersfield have moved to bring him to England.
The 25-year-old will help fill the void left by Levi Colwill’s departure following his loan stay from Chelsea with the move for Nakayama subject to the player getting a work permit.

Nakayama, who first moved to Europe with Zwolle in January 2019, has won 16 caps for Japan.
Colwill won plaudits for his displays for the Terriers in 2021-22 as they narrowly missed out on promotion with defeat to Nottingham Forest in the play-off final.
Like Colwill, Nakayama is also left footed and operated in a back three while at PEC Zwolle.
Carlos Corberan lined Huddersfield up in a three at the back formation in 2021-22 but has since quit the club.
It is expected to be more of the same from Danny Schofield who has taken over and has been rebuilding the side.
Town confirmed on Friday (15 July) that Jack Rudoni had signed from AFC Wimbledon – their fifth new addition of the summer.
They have bolstered their defence already with the arrival of Will Boyle from Cheltenham Town.

Nakayama spent three years at PEC Zwolle where he racked up 78 appearances in Eredivise, scoring five times and providing a further three assists.
Before his move to Europe with Zwolle, he represented Kashiwa Reysol in J-League and won the division’s rookie of the year award in 2017.
In other news, Nottingham Forest are in talks to seal a Huddersfield Town double deal after bids are tabled.
