Sources: Ibrahima Konate edges closer to Liverpool exit after big development
Ibrahima Konate has rejected a new Liverpool contract and is moving closer to an exit from the club, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old’s future on Merseyside is in doubt as his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Talks over an extension to the centre-back’s contract have not progressed, and there is now a growing expectation that he will leave in the summer.
Konate has been linked to Real Madrid in recent months, and that interest is believed by sources to be “concrete”.

Ibrahima Konate struggling at Liverpool
Konate has been heavily criticised for his performances so far this season, which have not been up to the standard that fans expect.
The French international had another difficult evening as Liverpool lost 3-2 to Brentford on Saturday (25 October).
Arne Slot’s side have now lost four Premier League games in a row, which is their worst domestic run since February 2021.
Despite his poor form, Football Insider revealed on 4 October that Liverpool are extremely reluctant to lose Konate.
However, as both the club and player continue to disagree over contract terms, the chances of an exit are growing by the day.
Liverpool eye Ibrahima Konate replacements
With Konate looking likely to depart next summer, the Reds will be desperate to bring in a long-term replacement.
Liverpool are still optimistic about signing Marc Guehi, after their summer move for the Crystal Palace defender broke down on deadline day.

Guehi will leave Palace at the end of the season, and it is believed that Slot’s side are leading the race for his signature.
Dayot Upamecano has also been linked with Liverpool, as his contract at Bayern Munich runs out next summer, but the centre-back could still agree a new deal with the German club.
