Sources: Inter Milan line up move for West Ham flop Sebastien Haller

Inter Milan have made former West Ham striker Sebastien Haller their top striker target ahead of the summer, Football Insider has learned.

The Irons flop has turned his career around at Ajax with 45 goals from 57 matches in just 18 months.

An Italian source has told Football Insider that Inter have now made Haller, 27, their number one target as they look to recruit a new first-choice centre-forward.

Ajax will look to make a profit on the £20million signing from West Ham.

According to The Athletic (September 2021), the Irons did not include an add-on based on the striker’s scoring exploits – but it is unclear if they would profit from any future sale.

West Ham smashed their club record to bring Haller to the London Stadium from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported £45m in 2019.

However, the 6 foot 3 inch striker scored just 14 goals in 54 games in east London.

The Ivory Coast international signed a four-and-a-half-year deal when he made the move to the Johan Cruyff Arena in January 2021.

Haller has been particularly impressive in the Champions League.

He scored 11 goals in eight European outings for the Dutch giants, who were dumped out of the competition by Benfica this week.

Former France under-21 international Haller switched his allegiance to Ivory Coast in 2020.

He has made 12 appearances for Les Elephants since, scoring four goals.

Inter Milan are in a four-way battle with rivals AC Milan, Napoli, and Juventus as they bid to retain the Serie A title.

Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez have led the line for the Nerazzurri after the mega-money departure of Romelu Lukaku last summer (2021).
