Sources: Ismaila Sarr undergoing Aston Villa medical today after £27m deal agreed

Ismaila Sarr is having a medical at Aston Villa after a £27million fee was agreed with Watford, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is also discussing personal terms with the Midlands club as the the finishing touches are put on a move.

Steven Gerrard is keen to bolster his front line prior to the window shutting and Sarr has been identified as a top target.

The £27million deal could go through in time for the forward to make his Villa debut against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

A host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, have previously shown an interest in the player.

Sarr has two years remaining on his contract at Vicarage Road.

The Senegal international was not in the Watford squad that shared a goalless draw with Preston North End on Saturday.

The striker has contributed one goal and one assist in three appearances this season.

In total, he has scored 25 goals in 95 games for the Hornets since joining from Rennes in 2019.

His most productive spell came in the 2020-21 campaign in which he contributed 13 goals and 10 assists in 39 Championship appearances.

Sarr is on the verge of becoming Villa’s sixth signing of the summer window.
