The 18-year-old midfielder is the son of former Albion defender Adam Hinshelwood and regarded as a future star.

Hinshelwood has been offered a new deal by Brighton and terms have been agreed after a breakthrough in talks.

The youngster has been with Brighton since he was seven years old and was included in the Premier League squad for the first time back in December.

The midfielder was an unused substitute in the Seagulls’ 4-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Speaking to club media after the game (6 January), Hinshelwood said being named in the squad was “an amazing experience”.

The teenager said his inclusion on the bench is “spurring him on” to keep working hard and push for his first team debut.

Hinshelwood cited fellow youngster Evan Ferguson who has been impressing in Roberto de Zerbi’s side as being a “massive boost” for him and fellow youth players to push for a place in the senior side.

Brighton are continuing to strengthen their youth setup after recently appointing Sam Jewell as head of recruitment.
