
Sources: Jake Clarke-Salter to undergo QPR medical after deal agreed
Jake Clarke-Salter has agreed a deal to join QPR and is set to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours, Football Insider can reveal.
The 24-year-old is available as a free agent this summer after Chelsea announced his release.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that QPR are closing in on the signing of the centre-back after manager Michael Beale green lighted a deal.
Beale is a big admirer of Clarke-Salter and is well acquainted with the player from his time at Chelsea’s academy.
Clarke-Salter was on the books at Stamford Bridge for 16 years.
QPR have beaten off interest from likes of Coventry City, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers to the defender.
Coventry were keen on re-signing Clarke-Salter following a successful loan spell at the club in the 2021-22 campaign.
He made 31 appearances from Mark Robins’ side.
Clarke-Salter came through the ranks at Chelsea and made his debut for the Blues in April 2016.
The left-footed centre-half spent the majority of his time at the club out on loan though.
He enjoyed spells at Vitesse, Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Birmingham City and Coventry.
Clarke-Salter only made three appearances for the Chelsea first team.
