Sources: Joel Piroe undergoing Leeds United medical after deal agreed

Joel Piroe is undergoing a Leeds United medical after they agreed a deal with Swansea City, sources have told Football Insider.

The striker, 24, is putting the finishing touches to a move to Elland Road after being granted permission by the Swans.

Leeds have fought off competition from multiple rivals to win the race for Piroe.

Football Insider revealed (24 August) Southampton were readying a joint bid for Piroe and his Swansea teammate Nathan Wood in order to beat Leeds to a deal.

Saints boss Russell Martin had been keen to be reunited with the Dutch striker and as he looks to strengthen his squad at St Mary’s.

However, the Whites should now complete a deal for the forward barring any late hitches.

United have had a long-standing interest in Piroe, who they targeted late on in last year’s summer transfer window, and value him in the region of £8million to £10m.

The 24-year-old scored 19 goals in the Championship for Swansea last season and 22 the season before.

Piroe has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the club and has so far resisted their offer of a two-year extension.

The Netherlands youth international has already featured for the Swans this term in their three Champions fixtures and their first league cup game and scored twice in his 60 minute cameo as the side beat Northampton 3-0 earlier this month (8 August).
