Sources: Kerr Smith agrees new Aston Villa deal before joining St Johnstone on loan
Aston Villa defender Kerr Smith has agreed a new two-year deal before he joins St Johnstone on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
The Scotland youth international, 19, is set to head back to his homeland for the rest of the campaign after signing for the Midlands giants from Dundee United in January 2022.
Villa have agree the terms of a new two-year contract with Smith as well as a loan move to Scottish Premiership club St Johnstone.

The Premier League club are keen for the defender to get regular first-team experience in what will be the next stage of his development.
St Johnstone are 10th out of the 12 clubs in the Scottish top flight following the weekend programme.
Smith is one of a number of Villa talents who will be loaned out in the January window as the club look to get their regular senior playing time.
The teenager has spent the first half of the campaign in action for the club’s Under-21s, where he has been playing at centre-back.
Smith has made 11 appearances for the Villa youth teams, including eight in Premier League 2 with the last six coming in the starting XI.

Villa are set to be very active in the January window as they look to strengthen their first-team squad following a sensational opening half of the campaign.
Unai Emery’s side are prioritising the signing of a versatile forward who can provide cover and competition for star man Ollie Watkins.
