Sources: Kieran Dowell reaches ‘verbal agreement’ with Rangers after medical complete

Kieran Dowell is closing in on a move to Rangers after Norwich City confirmed he is leaving, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Dowell has verbally agreed a three-year contract with Rangers and barring any late hitches, the Glasgow giants are confident of making the former Everton star their first summer signing.

Norwich announced on Saturday that the 25-year-old is among a number of departures from the club at the end of the season.

On 3 May, Football Insider exclusively revealed that the attacking midfielder has already undergone an Ibrox medical and is now set to put pen to paper on a deal with the Glasgow club after jetting in for his medical tests.

The former England Under-21 international is believed to have snubbed a contract offer at Carrow Road in order to progress with the next chapter in his career.

The midfielder’s current deal expires in the summer as he prepares to quit the Championship club.

The 25-year-old joined Norwich back in 2020 after nearly five years at Everton, the majority of which was spent on loan.

Dowell was a pivotal part of the side since new boss David Wagner took over in January but a lengthy lay off with a knee injury has kept him out of the side since February and he has more than likely played his last game for the club.

Before his injury, Dowell made 25 appearances for Norwich across all competitions and scored five goals and set up three.
