Sources: Leeds could accept Harry Gray offer as clubs queue up for deal

Harry Gray could be allowed to leave Leeds United on loan during the January transfer window in a big to gain first-team experience elsewhere.

The 17-year-old signed his first professional contract in October, a long-term deal to commit his future to Daniel Farke‘s side, such is the promise he has shown.

Gray impressed for Leeds in pre-season, with Leeds supporters dubbing him “the next Harry Kane” given his impact on senior games despite being aged just 16 at the time.

Now, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, a number of clubs including some in the Championship are interested in taking the teenager on loan to help aid in his development with regular first-team football.

Clubs including Derby County, Hull City and Charlton Athletic are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation in case he is allowed to leave Elland Road.

Leeds United could accept loan offers for Harry Gray

So far this season, Gray has yet to make a senior appearance for Leeds, but has continued to impress for the Under-21 side with seven goals from nine games so far.

A number of clubs have noted his performances for the academy side, and could now be prepared to offer him his first taste of regular senior football in the EFL.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think obviously Harry Gray is regarded as one of the best young players to come through at Leeds in recent years.

“Obviously Leeds feel he’s not maybe ready for the first team just yet.

“If they do decide to loan him out I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs who’d be interested in signing the teenager.

“It would have to be the right option for Gray as well if he is to maybe step down in the championship in search of regular first team football and gain valuable first team experience as well.

“If he does become available on loan, there’ll be a number of clubs who’ll be champing at the bit to try and sign him.”

Leeds plotting moves to sign strikers in January

While Gray has not yet been deemed ready to feature for the senior team this season, their other striker options have also struggled to impress.

Mick Brown warned Football Insider on 16 September that Leeds are in big trouble as a result of their lack of firepower and are at growing risk of being relegated.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 7 September that Leeds are concerned about their attacking options, and could look to bolster their squad in January.

Football Insider revealed on 21 November that Leeds have set their sight on Gonzalo Garcia, the young Real Madrid striker who could be available on loan in January.

Garcia, 21, has made nine appearances for Los Blancos so far this season but is keen to leave on loan to gain more regular playing time elsewhere.
