Sources: Leeds United agree deal with Michael Skubala

Leeds United have agreed a deal for Michael Skubala to be their new under-23s head coach, sources have told Football Insider.

He is leaving his role as the FA national mens coach to take over the key post at Elland Road.

Skubala has a futsal background and is former director of football at Loughborough University.

His imminent arrival comes four months after Mark Jackson was promoted from under-23s manager to first team coach.

Jackson enjoyed success with the Whites youth side and led them to promotion from Premier League 2 Division 2 in the 2020-21 campaign.

The position was also previously held by Carlos Corberan, who resigned from his post at Huddersfield Town earlier this month.

The 39-year-old quit the Terriers after leading them to the Championship play-off final last season.

Skubala is set to be tasked with improving a Leeds United under-23 side that were relegated from Premier League 2 last season.

The Yorkshire club came 13th in the division, with only Derby County finishing lower than them in the table.

Skubala was appointed as England’s Futsal head coach in January 2017.

He led the side to Four Nations glory in April 2019 before leaving his post in January 2021.
