Sources: Leeds United blow as Brighton finalise James Milner deal

James Milner is set to join Brighton this summer in a blow to Leeds United’s transfer hopes, sources have told Football Insider.

The Seagulls have been extremely active in the transfer market, sealing deals for Joao Pedro, Mahmoud Dahoud and Milner before the summer window has opened.

Sources have told Football Insider that Brighton are confident that ‘70%’ of their transfer business for the summer is already concluded.

A Daily Mail report (16 May) claimed that Leeds are in the hunt to sign Milner this summer if they avoid relegation.

The Whites are keen to reunite with the 37-year-old veteran 19 years after he left Elland Road as a youngster.

Yorkshire-born Milner graduated from the Whites’ academy and spent two years in the first team before joining Newcastle United in 2004.

But it is understood that the Seagulls have a full agreement to sign Milner when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

Football Insider sources revealed on Saturday (13 May) that Milner has begun house-hunting in Brighton ahead of his move this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi is eager to add more experience and leadership to his side ahead of the new season, and Milner fits the profile wanted by the Italian coach.
