Sources: Leeds United expected to make £36m profit on Wilfried Gnonto

Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto is attracting attention from top Premier League and Serie A clubs, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old forward only joined the Whites in the 2022 summer window, but could already be heading for the exit at Elland Road this season if Leeds suffer relegation.

It is understood that Leeds would face a fierce battle to keep hold of Gnonto, with a number of top English and Italian clubs already circling for his signature.

Leeds accept that keeping hold of Gnonto could be difficult, but the Yorkshire club are demanding a fee north of £40million for him to leave this summer.

He signed a five-year deal with Leeds following his £4million move from FC Zurich in the summer, so the Premier League club are under no pressure to sell him at a slashed price.

He has been a breakout star at Leeds following his move, and many rivals are considering him a top talent with huge potential.

Gnonto has scored four goals and assisted three times in his 21 appearances for Leeds this season.

His contributions have proved to be significant to Leeds’s survival hopes, with the Whites not losing a single league fixture when Gnonto has scored or assisted.

Gnonto has seen his game time reduced since Javi Gracia replaced Jesse Marsch in the Elland Road hot seat, but the Spaniard is still a big fan of his versatility.

“His [Gnonto’s] qualities are good to play as a second striker and as a left winger as well. I think he is a good option,” Gracia said.
