Sources: Leeds United have ‘big’ interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres as new price revealed

Leeds United are interested in signing Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Coventry City are expected to demand between £10-12million for the 24-year-old forward, whose deal expires with the Championship club in 2024.

Leeds United showed interest in signing Gyokeres over the January transfer window and will continue to pursue his signature even after the £35.5million signing of Georginio Rutter.

The Whites are under threat of relegation this season but it is understood that they will retain big interest in signing Gyokeres even if they are demoted to the Championship.

The Coventry forward has scored 15 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues this season and emerged as one of the most prolific strikers in the Championship.

Only Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom has scored more than Gyokeres’ 14 league goals this season.

Gyokeres is currently spending his second season at Coventry after joining the Championship side from Brighton in 2021.

He spent an initial six-month loan at the side and scored three goals during his temporary stint to earn himself a permanent three-year deal at Coventry.

An impressive 18 goals in 47 appearances followed in his first permanent season at Coventry, and Gyokeres is well on his way to breaking that scoring record this season.

Alongside his club career, Gyokeres has made 11 senior caps for the Swedish national team after making his international debut in 2019.
