Sources: Leeds United open new manager talks with Javi Gracia to be sacked today
Leeds United are set to sack Javi Gracia today and are already in talks with potential manager replacements, sources have told Football Insider.
Director of football Victor Orta is also expected to be relieved of his duties.
Former West Ham and Everton boss Sam Allardyce has been sounded out over a “firefighter” role just until the end of the season.
Allardyce would be set to land a huge bonus if he kept them up.
Former Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer is also an option.
The former Whites man was most recently in charge of Birmingham City and helped them survive relegation in the 2021-22 season but was relieved of his duties in July 2022.
Bowyer was previously in charge of Charlton Athletic where he led them to promotion to the Championship in his first full season with the club and won almost 41% of game he was in charge of.
Yesterday (1 May), Football Insider revealed that the Whites have been locked in talks since Sunday night (30 April) trying to weigh up changes to preserve the club’s Premier League status.
The crisis meeting began in the wake of Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth and internal discussions continued yesterday (1 May).
Gracia, 53,only took charge of Leeds in February, but since then has won just three of his 12 league games in charge.
The current boss’ contract only runs until the end of the season after he replaced Jesse Marsch in the dugout earlier this year.

On Saturday (29 April), Football Insider also revealed that Leeds have a growing interest in Blackburn Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson who is considered a natural replacement for Marcelo Bielsa by club chiefs.
Leeds are currently 17th in the English top flight, joint on points with Nottingham Forest below them and six clear of bottom of the table Southampton.
