Swansea City are in advanced talks with Liverpool over a £15million move for winger Lazar Markovic, Football Insider sources understand.
Liverpool are willing to sell Markovic before the close of the transfer window with the Serbian out of favour under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that talks are progressing well between Swansea and Liverpool and that Markovic’s agent is flying into the UK to try and tie up the loose ends of the deal.
Liverpool signed Markovic from Benfica for £20million in the summer of 2014 and they are keen to try and recoup as much of that fee as possible.
The 23-year-old has struggled to make the desired impact at Liverpool and has had spells away from Anfield out on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City in the last few seasons.
Swansea are planning to be busy before the close of the transfer window closes on Wednesday as manager Carlos Carvalhal wants to strengthen his squad.
Swansea are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and are the lowest scorers in the league and Carvalhal knows they must improve their attacking options if they are to have any chance of staying up.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the club have hijacked a major rivals’ bid to sign a £15million-valued centre-forward.
