Sources: Liverpool edge closer to signing Mason Mount after £180,000-a-week deal offered
Liverpool and Man City are working on deals to sign Mason Mount this summer but he is currently seen as more likely to join the Merseysiders, sources have told Football Insider.
The likelihood that Mount will leave Chelsea in the summer is growing and the Blues are now willing to sell their academy product.
The 24-year-old will have a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after signing an extension back in 2019.
The Blues have attempted to tie down the midfielder to a new contract and have offered him a deal worth £180,000-per-week.
The club are refusing to budge on their latest offer but Mount is keen to be paid the same as £250,000-a-week teammate Reece James.
Earlier this month Football Insider revealed that the England international has been told he is free to find a new club after their contract talks collapsed.
Liverpool are keen on bringing Mount to Anfield as they being a huge overhaul of their midfield this summer and the player is believed to be a big fan of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseysiders have struggled in the midfield, with players like James Milner past their prime, and are in need of a revamp this summer.

Man City are also interested in a deal for the midfielder despite their competition for places in the middle of the pitch which has forced summer signing Kalvin Phillips to settle for limited minutes.
Mount has made 32 appearances for the Blues across all competitions this season and has scored three goals and provided six assists in those outings.
