Sources: Liverpool finalise Trent Alexander-Arnold deal after securing ‘agreement in principle’
Liverpool are putting the finishing touches to a new contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold after securing an “agreement in principle”, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseyside giants have made significant progress on a long-term deal for the 24-year-old, whose current agreement expires in the summer of 2025, in recent weeks.
It comes at a time when the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group has sold a minority stake in Liverpool to the US private equity firm Dynasty Equity for an unspecified sum of £82million-£164m.

Tying down Alexander-Arnold to a new and improved contract has long been a priority of the club and the manager Jurgen Klopp.
The 24-year-old has taken on senior player status at Liverpool, where he has emerged from the youth ranks and has spent his entire career, and has recently been promoted to vice-captain.
Top clubs across England and Europe would love to prise the full-back away from Anfield, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that he is committed to Liverpool and has no plans to leave.
Football Insider revealed on 22nd September that Alexander-Arnold has an “agreement in principle” over a new deal and it is believed that talks have advanced to a stage where it is at the final stages.
Club chiefs and the player’s camp are working through the final elements of the deal and it is expected that it will be signed and announced soon.
The England international has taken on a hybrid role with great success since the final months of last season as Klopp seeks to maximise Alexander-Arnold’s world-class long passing range.
He notched four goals and 10 assists across 47 games in all competitions last term, and began the new campaign in fine form before sustaining a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since the 3-0 win over Aston Villa on 3rd September.

He last extended his contract at Liverpool in July 2021 following the Reds’ famous Premier League title win.
According to FBRef, Alexander-Arnold currently earns £180,000-a-week at Anfield.
