Sources: Liverpool green light Fabio Carvalho move – permanent deal possible

Liverpool will allow Fabio Carvalho to leave this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds would prefer to send Carvalho on loan for the 2023-24 season but are open to allowing a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old joined the Merseysiders from Fulham last summer and put pen to paper on a five-year deal keeping him at Anfield until 2027.

Although the midfielder featured in his first six league games as a Reds player, he has struggled to make a mark on Jurgen Klopp’s side and has only made 12 appearances in the top flight so far this season.

Liverpool are now preparing for a massive overhaul of their midfield this summer that could force Carvalho away from Anfield on a temporary, or even permanent, basis.

Klopp’s side have struggled through an underwhelming campaign and are facing the real threat of finishing without Champions League football next season.

The Reds had made Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham their main target ahead of the upcoming window but have ruled themselves out of the race after realising the full extent of the costs that it would take to bring the England international to Anfield.

Yesterday (18 April), Football Insider revealed that the Liverpool board have prepared and approved a contract for Chelsea star Mason Mount, who Klopp is keen to add to his ranks this summer.

The Reds are also targeting Brighton star and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister who could cost £60million amid interest from Liverpool and Man United.
