Sources: Liverpool handed boost in bid to sign £80,000-a-week star after Raheem Sterling reveal
Mason Mount is demanding parity with top-earning Chelsea stars like Raheem Sterling and Reece James in order to sign a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Talks between player and club are now deadlocked and, as a source explained, the Blues are “refusing to budge” from their latest offer.
This news will provide a boost to Liverpool and Juventus, who have a genuine interest in taking advantage of the situation to sign the 24-year-old.

It is believed that a host of clubs and home and abroad would also throw their hat into the ring for Mount should he become available.
The England midfielder has less than 18 months remaining on his current Chelsea deal, which nets him a reported wage of £80,000-a-week.
Mount has been left unsatisfied with the renewal offers made to him so far.
As per FBref, summer-of-2022 signings Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly are the two highest earners at Stamford Bridge – with wage packets of £325,000-a-week and £295,000-a-week respectively.
James, who graduated from the club’s academy alongside Mount, signed a new six-year deal last September worth £250,000-a-week.
The former Derby and Vitesse loanee was benched for just the second Premier League game this season last week (11 February) as Chelsea drew 1-1 at West Ham.

Mount has notched three goals and six assists across 29 appearances this season in his role as a regular starter.
The midfield star last signed a contract extension in 2019 – just months after his return from a successful loan at then-Championship Derby.
In other news, Football Insider updates with Chelsea privately told it will take £100m+ record fee to lure top striker target.
