Sources: Liverpool have ‘active interest’ in James Maddison amid ‘£60m’ reveal
Liverpool have an “active interest” in Leicester City playmaker James Maddison ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2024 and is in no rush to pen new terms at the King Power Stadium.
It is believed that Liverpool are monitoring Maddison’s situation and are expected to be in the mix for his signature if he does not sign a new Leicester deal.

The Merseysiders are expected to undertake a major overhaul of their midfield this summer and are already working on laying the foundations for potential deals.
Leicester have stepped up their efforts to renew Maddison‘s deal in recent weeks, and have even given him the captaincy in a bid to persuade him to pledge his future to the club.
However, it is believed that the Foxes will not hesitate to cash in on the England international this summer if they believe a new contract is unfeasible.
Sources have told Football Insider that a fee of between £60-70million is likely to be enough to prise Maddison from the club where he has spent the last five years, since joining from Norwich City.
Newcastle United and Tottenham have made the England international a top target this summer, while Man City have also been linked with a deal for him.
Leicester have a history of getting top dollar for their best players in the transfer market.
Harry Maguire, Ben Chillwell and Wesley Fofana fetched £80m (2019), £50m (2020) and £70m (2022) respectively when they joined Man United and Chelsea.

Maddison is an attacking midfielder who can play various roles, including behind the main striker, on the flanks and even in deeper positions although he rarely drops back to central midfield.
He has scored nine goals and supplied five assists from 20 matches in all competitions this season, with all 14 goal contributions coming in the Premier League.
