Sources: Liverpool now want to sign Renato Sanches – he’s up for sale

Liverpool are closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches ahead of a potential move, sources have told Football Insider.

The French giants are planning a major rebuild this summer and have placed the 25-year-old on a lengthy list of players that could leave the club at the end of the season.

The Reds are looking to overhaul their midfield department ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and have been alerted by Sanches’ sudden availability.

Jurgen Klopp is a long-term admirer of the Portuguese talent, with the German coach urging Liverpool to sign him before he eventually moved to Paris in 2022.

Jude Bellingham was Liverpool’s first-choice target going into the summer window, but Football Insider sources revealed that the Merseyside outfit pulled out of the deal due to Borussia Dortmund’s asking price.

Liverpool have since turned their attention towards other midfield targets with Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister and Joao Palhinha high up on their shortlist.

Sanches has now been added to that shopping list with Liverpool aware that they could strike a bargain deal if PSG want to offload him quickly.

The Portugal international has seen his game time limited to a substitute role this season, playing only 736 minutes of football across all competitions for the Ligue Un leaders in 2022/23.

Sanches’ only previous experience in the Premier League came in an underwhelming loan spell at Swansea City in 2017/18 – he played just 860 minutes of football across 15 appearances for the Welsh side as they suffered relegation to the Championship.
