Sources: Liverpool plan to terminate Rhys Williams deal
Liverpool are planning to terminate Rhys Williams’ Aberdeen loan deal in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old defender has played only once for the Scottish Premiership side since joining on a season-long loan in June.
It is believed Liverpool will now recall Williams at the halfway point of that deal.

Football Insider revealed last week (16 December) that the Merseysiders are also set to recall centre-back Nat Phillips from Celtic in January.
Jurgen Klopp wants more centre-back cover after losing Joel Matip to a season-ending knee injury in recent weeks.
Williams‘ only appearance in the 2023-24 campaign was a start in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Peterhead in August.
He was named in the Dons’ squad for each of their Europa Conference League group-stage games but failed to make an appearance in the competition.
The 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at Liverpool, is under contract at Anfield until June 2026.
He spent the first half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Blackpool, making 17 Championship appearances before returning to Merseyside in January.
Williams also had another unsuccessful loan at Swansea in the 2021-22 campaign.

The ex-England Under-21 international has made 19 senior appearances for Liverpool – all of which came during the 2020-21 campaign, when Klopp’s side were ravaged by injury.
He is now set to return to Anfield and provide emergency cover for the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
In other news, Liverpool move for 22-year-old collapses – he’s close to joining rivals.
