Sources: Liverpool plot goalkeeper signing after top source’s £20m bid reveal

Liverpool will sign a new goalkeeper in the summer window if Caoimhin Kelleher is to leave the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed via sources on Thursday (29 February) that Kelleher, 25, is valued by Liverpool at around £20million after his outstanding recent exploits.

The Reds could accept bids meeting that price tag after rejecting around £15million from Nottingham Forest in January.

Celtic are keen on a potential deal for the Republic of Ireland international, who also has interest from several Premier League clubs.

It is believed the shot-stopper will decide whether he is happy to continue as second-choice at Anfield this summer.

Third-choice goalkeeper Adrian is out of contract in June – meaning Liverpool will need a new option between the sticks if Kelleher is to leave.

The Cork-born 25-year-old is currently deputising for Alisson Becker in the Reds’ senior side.

Kelleher helped Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool lift the League Cup last week (25 February) with another stellar performance against Chelsea at Wembley.

He has made 17 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Alisson, who is currently injured, has kept nine clean sheets in 24 outings this term.

Liverpool sit top of the Premier League in Klopp’s final season at Anfield with just 12 games left of the season.

The Reds boast the second-best defensive record in the top flight, with only Arsenal (23) conceding fewer goals than the Merseysiders (25).
