Sources: Liverpool plotting £200m midfield signings after Jude Bellingham twist today
Liverpool are planning to spend between £150-£200million on midfielders this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Reds are looking to bring in two or three new additions to the middle of the park with the funds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were set to go all out to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham this summer but, as reported by Football Insider early today, have now pulled out of the running.
The fee to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield could cost the Reds up to £130million, plus agent fees and wages, and Klopp has now been forced to abandon plans to sign him.
Real Madrid, Man City and Man United are now the clubs left to battle it out for the England international’s signature.
The Merseysiders have now moved on to alternative targets with Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount high on their list.
Liverpool are set to use the funds that would have been spent on Bellingham to bring in several additions in the midfield, instead of just one player.
On Tuesday (11 April), sources told Football Insider that Liverpool are interested in Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and the club are worried they could be “blown out of the water” by the personal terms the Reds could offer.
The Merseysiders are also still pushing to sign Matheus Nunes in the upcoming window after they were beaten to his signature last summer by Wolves.

Liverpool are set to undergo a massive overhaul this summer after what is turning out to be a disappointing season for the Anfield club.
They are currently eighth in the Premier League table, 12 points off Man United in fourth with less than ten games left of the season.
