Sources: Liverpool star Henderson set to finalise £10m move after breakthrough
Al Ettifaq are closing in on the signing of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson following a breakthrough in talks, sources have told Football Insider.
The Saudi club are confident that they have a deal in place for the 33-year-old midfielder that will see put an end to his glittering Anfield career.
Sources have told Football Insider that Al Ettifaq have offered Henderson a “huge” contract that would see his salary rise to £700,000 per week – more than £36million per year.
Liverpool are expected to agree a fee of around £10million for their skipper, who has two years left on his deal.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (13 July) that Liverpool would not stand in Henderson’s way of a move if he told them he wanted to leave.
It is understood that Henderson has now informed the club of his decision to leave and the Reds are now set to lose a third midfielder this summer.
Henderson has spent 12 years at Anfield after signing for Liverpool in a £16million move from boyhood club Sunderland.
He became Liverpool’s captain in 2015 following the departure of club legend Steven Gerrard, who is now manager of Al Ettifaq.
During his time as captain, Henderson led Liverpool to win the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup.

He has made 492 appearances for the Reds, scoring 33 times and providing 61 assists in the process.
Henderson has also played a pivotal role for England following his international debut in 2010. He has been a senior figure in Gareth Southgate’s team and made 77 caps for the Three Lions.
