Georginio Wijnaldum is set to be recalled to the Liverpool team for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, Football Insider understands.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make at least one change to the side that drew 2-0 away to Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the team was doing pattern of play and match drills in training today with Wijnaldum included, in a clear sign he will return to the side at Stamford Bridge.
It will mean that one of Liverpool’s big-name midfielders who started in Italy – Fabinho, James Milner or Jordan Henderson – will make way for the Holland international.
Wijnaldum replaced Milner after 66 minutes on Tuesday night after starting last Saturday’s convincing 3-1 Premier League win against Newcastle United.
The hero of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona has started all five of Liverpool’s league matches this season, as have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah.
Wijnaldum has been a mainstay of the Liverpool side since signing from Newcastle in the summer of 2016, with his 147 appearances yielding 13 goals and 16 assists.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that the club have opened midfielder talks and a big-money offer is ready.
