Sources: Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham plot Steidten moves after development in last hours

Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are eyeing potential moves for recruitment guru Tim Steidten following his departure from Bayer Leverkusen, sources have told Football Insider.

Steidten has left his role as sporting director at Bayer by mutual consent in the last 24 hours and the news has alerted a host of clubs across Europe.

The 43-year-old is regarded as one of the best recruitment operators in Europe following his success in Germany.

Chelsea tried to lure him to Stamford Bridge last September as they carried out a restructure of their recruitment and scouting departments.

Steidten is credited with helping discover and sign such unknown talents as Piero Hincapie, Edmond Tapsoba, Jeremie Frimpong as well as Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz.

Premier League giants Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Monaco are all admirers of Steidten and could make a move for the German in the next weeks and months.

Liverpool are searching for a new sporting director with Julian Ward leaving Anfield at the end of the season, while United are also looking to add to their recruitment team.

Fabio Paratici’s future at Tottenham has been shrouded in doubt following the decision of Italy’s football federation to ban him for 30 months in January as a result of the ongoing investigations into Juventus’ finances.

Chelsea are no longer in the market for a sporting director after completely restructuring their set-up in recent months with a series of expensive hires.

Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are the club’s co-sporting directors, while Christopher Vivell is the technical director focused on football globally.
