Sources: Liverpool ‘would love’ to keep Ibrahima Konate after deal agreed
Liverpool do not want to lose Ibrahima Konate this summer and continue to hope that he will sign a new contract before the end of this season.
Konate has been slammed by Liverpool fans on numerous occasions so far this term, with his performances suffering a clear drop-off compared to last season.
He has made 31 appearances across all competitions, taking his tally for the Reds to over 150 games since a 2021 move from RB Leipzig.
With his current contract set to expire in the summer, Liverpool chiefs remain locked in talks with Konate and his representatives over a possible new deal.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the Reds still have no plans to lose him despite the addition of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for next term.

Liverpool still want to keep Konate past this summer
Real Madrid pulled out of signing Konate last year despite constant links to his services ahead of his contract expiry.
Jacquet has been touted as a Konate replacement as he prepares to join Arne Slot‘s squad for 2026-27, but the Reds still have no plans to let the 26-year-old leave on a free transfer.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Obviously, Konate’s future remains unclear with just months left on his contract and still no breakthrough in signing a new deal at Anfield.
“I think, obviously, his future remains unresolved, and nothing has been decided either way, it seems.
“Jacquet is seen as somebody for the future and Liverpool have spent big money on him. Liverpool ideally would love to see Konate stay and have Jacquet with him next season as well because they’re going to need four centre-halves.“
Harvey Elliott could leave Liverpool for a cut-price fee
Elliott has had a nightmare season at Aston Villa since he was allowed to leave Liverpool on loan with an obligation to buy last summer.

The England youth international has only played seven times under Unai Emery so far, as Villa do not want to trigger the £35million buy clause in his contract for when he makes 10 appearances.
With talks ongoing between the two clubs to resolve his situation, former club CEO Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that Villa want to negotiate a permanent deal with a lower fee for Elliott, and he will return to Anfield in the summer if a new deal can not be agreed upon.
